Cookstown made the trip to Comber last saturday to play bottom of the table N Down and returned with a comfortable 3 points.

Congratulations to Ian Sloan who has been awarded the Belfast Telegraph Local Hero Award! This caps off a terrific year for the schoolboy who has been a top performer for his school, club and country over the last years.

Ian is currently in a preparation phase for the Olympic Qualifier in Dublin (March).

He played in two test internationals last week against medal hopefuls Great Britain. Ireland held the home team to two draws (1:1 and 2:2).

Well done Ian from all at the club!

Cookstown were at home on Saturday playing against Priorians and were determined to continue their winning streak. Priorians are always a tough match and Cookstown knew they had to start strong.

Neil “the horse” Barnes is still the fav after a win last week. Norwich have a tough away tie at WBA and Aston Villa (thomas and ricky’s pick) are at home to Everton.

If all 3 men get knocked out this week ……. ……. ….. we’ll make something up if that happens !

Cookstown Hockey Club competed indoor at the weekend in the Ulster Section of the National competition. Indoor hockey is making a resurgence in the Irish game and the locals have an array of talent suited to the six aside game.

All the selections are in, including Alan Ferguson’s random pick (Wigan.. nightmare) due to his late selection.

we are down to 47 with the bookies slashing their odds on Ray crooks who has gone for newcastle this week.
