All Cookstown’s teams face tough away trips this weekend.
Cookstown Men face a difficult trip to take on Mossley at 2.30pm in the Kirk Cup group games.
The Reds were 10-0 winners over Antrim last weekend but will be out to start better at The Glade against Mossley who lost 5-2 against Newry in their first game.
Cookstown Ladies take on Tyrone rivals Derg Valley on Friday night at Castlederg High School. The Reds will be aiming to build on a great 3-0 victory over Ballynahinch at Steelweld Park last weekend, but will meet a Derg Valley team also on the up having beaten Enniskillen 1-0 in their first game of the season.
Cookstown II are on the road – and in a bus – to Instonians in the JL1 League Cup at 2.30pm. Shawsbridge has been the scene of some big Cookstown defeats in year’s past and Les Allen’s men will have to be at their very best to take any points in their season opener. Inst had a confidence-building 3-3 draw with Lisnagarvey II in their outing last week.
Cookstown III make the long trip to Comber to take on North Down at 1pm on Saturday.
They drew 4-4 with South Antrim II last week and will be hoping for better in this JL2 League Cup encounter following ND’s confidence-shaking 7-0 home loss to NI Civil Service last week.
