Ian Sloan who recently captained the victorious IRELAND Under 18 HOCKEY TEAM in the HOME COUNTRIES CHAMPIONSHIP in Cork. Ian played an influential part in midfield and lead the team to victories against Scotland (4-2), Wales (4-0) and England(2-1).
Earlier in July Ian had played and Captained Ireland in all 6 warm up matches against Scotland and Belgium as part of their preparation for the Home Countries Tournament.
Although the youngest player in the squad Ian showed maturity beyond his years and has once again brought honour not only to his school but to the town of Cookstown.
Ian will now be hoping to secure his place on the Full Irish Under 18 squad again next July when they will play in the European A Division Championship in Utrecht,The Netherlands.
In a few weeks time Ian will set off on his travels again following his selection for the Northern Ireland Under 19 Team when he will play in the UK School Games in Newcastle. At this tournament Ian will be joined by Cookstown High School team mates Matthew Rollins and Ryan Miller.
