Ladies in cup action, Men at Instonians

Cookstown Ladies are in cup action this weekend as they face Queen’s University at Steelweld Park at 2.30pm in the Inter-Cup.

“It feels like ages since our last game, so this match will have a lot of challenges for us,” said Reds captain Jessica Greer.
“We’ve had a pretty decent start to the season and we’ve got to be aiming to continue that progress through to 2020. Certainly a good Inter-Cup run could help propel our league campaign on.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to start strongly against Queen’s. When we’ve managed to do that this season we’ve always had a good game.”
Cookstown Men have a huge task against the reigning Ulster Premier League champions Instonians at Shawsbridge at 4pm.
The Reds are on a great run of wins, having yet to concede a goal in the competition and will be aiming to maintain that record above all others in this fixture. At the other end they can rely on goals by Stuart Smyth who bagged four against Portadown last time out.
Cookstown II are at Aurora Leisure Centre at 2.30pm, a venue where they have never had an easy match.
They play Bangor II in JL1 and will be looking to bounce back from their 4-3 loss to Lisnagarvey II.
Cookstown III are home to JL2 contenders Kilkeel II at 4pm at Steelweld Park.
The Reds had a tough time in their last game but sit in third place in the league and will be hoping to maintain that position.
Cookstown IV are away to South Antrim III at 1pm on Saturday.
On paper this looks like a tough fixture for the battling Fours and they will need to be at the very best to get points from this match.
