The 2’s kick off their junior 1 campaign with a 2-1 win
On Saturday the 2’s travelled to a very strong Inst side to defend their junior 1 title. The reds started the better of the teams with Matty Rollins and David Best providing some quality balls into the forward line.
However the score remained at 0-0 after the first quarter after numerous chances gone a begging for the reds.
Inst grabbed the first goal of the game after some loose marking from the Cookstown men. This was enough to give Cookstown a shake and it wasn’t long until the reds were level after Greg Allen rounded the keeper and found the back of the net.
With a minute left on the clock Cookstown pushed on for the winner. A long ball into the circle was finished off by Stevie Allen with the faintest of touches.
Despite a short corner on the hooter for Inst, the reds were able to hold out for all 3 points
