Twos lose out to Garvey
11/04/2019

Wednesday

A much-changed Cookstown travelled to Hillsborough for their last match of the season and despite taking a 2-0 couldn’t hold out, losing 3-2.

Richard McGaw scored the opener with a trademark reverse after Gavy Butler robbed the ball on the halfway line.

Garvey were putting on most of the pressure, but Cookstown broke down the left hand side halfway through the first period, Butler and McGaw combining for Raymond Miller to smash home.

Josh Anderson kept the Reds in the game with a series of cracking saves but could not stop a deflected shot from out wide creeping inside the post just before the short whistle.

The Hillsborough men came out with added intent in the second half and forced an early goal with a pinpoint short corner strike. Against tiring Cookstown legs Garvey finally put the game to bed with a third goal.

Well done to Matty Lindsay on his competitive league debut for the Seconds.
Thanks on behalf of the team to Les, Richard, Stevie Ham, and Davy for organisation and their help over the season.

Solo Fuels MVP: Paul Watt
